She hit her husband
On a Monday evening an hour after dinner
Halfway through the dishes because the dishwasher was broken
And he laughed, not at her, it was something on TV
She walked out there with dishpan hands and
She hit her husband with the flat of her hand
He looked up at her slightly wet and slightly absurd
She hit him again and
She hit him again and
It wasn't that she had meant to hit him or
Perhaps she would have dried her hands first
But her hands were wet and became wetter
